Let's sow the seeds for the next generation
One of the principles of MIS is to “nurture the next generation of leaders.” Through the Japan-ASEAN Youth Summit, we aim bringing together youth leaders from Japan and ASEAN to provide them with the neccessary resources and mentorship to launch their own unique initatives in their communities. Our goal is to foster a network of leaders who can contribute to the future of our region. MIS will continue making earnest efforts to achieve this goal.
Achievements
this year
The first Japan-ASEAN Youth Summit (JAYS 2025) was held in Jakarta, Indonesia, in March 2025, bringing together 47 young people from nine ASEAN countries, including Japan. Participants presented policy proposals while engaging in lively discussions.
The summit featured two subcommittees: the Environment and Development Subcommittee and the Health Care Subcommittee. Participants deepened their knowledge through preliminary assignments, expert lectures, and site visits. Through group discussions, they developed specific policy proposals and projects.
This summit provided a platform for high school students from Japan and ASEAN countries to exchange ideas, learn independently, and gain a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and values. Experts' lectures and discussions allowed participants to explore critical topics such as environmental challenges, healthcare issues, and the impact of AI technology, broadening their perspectives.
